Sri Lanka 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games

Sri Lanka released a single stamp on 12 August 2010 to commemorate the 1st YOG (Youth Olympic Games), held in Singapore. The colourful stamp features the official games mascots Merly and Lyo, and icons representing various sports and activities for the games participants.

Bulgaria 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games

Bulgaria released the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games issue on 30 July 2010. The single stamp, with a denomination of 1.40 leva, was issued in sheetlets of 4 stamps, with official sports icons decorating the sheetlet border. The stamp is just illustrated with the official logo of the games, with the silhouettes of runners at the top left corner. The sports represented with icons on the borders are badminton, canoeing, basketball, judo, weightlifting, equestry, rowing, gymnastics, sailing, football (soccer), boxing and athletics. The same sheetlet of 4 is also available in gray-scale, with no denomination on the stamps.

Romania 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The Romanian authority released the 1st Youth Olympic Games issue on 12 August 2010, in the form of a souvenir sheet. The single stamp on the sheet features a winner's medal over books, a certificate and a mortarboard head-dress, emphasizing the importance of the theme of education for the youth. The sheet selvage is decorated with the games mascots Lyo and Merly.

Serbia 2010 Youth Olympic Games

For the 1st Youth Olympic Games, Serbia issued a single stamp on 14 August 2010. The design on the stamp features a series of athlete silhouettes forming a circle, representing the sports of basketball, diving, handball, sprinting, volleyball, cycling, table tennis, badminton, and judo. The stamp was released in sheet of 8 with a central label featuring volleyball and a runner off a running block.

Pakistan 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Pakistan released a stamp to commemorate the 1st Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore on 14 August 2010. The design shows silhouettes of athletes in the sports of long jump, basketball, running, javelin, volleyball, discus & hammer.

Vanuatu 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Vanuatu issued on 14 August 2010, a souvenir sheet in the shape of a wavey flag, commemorating the 1st Youth Olymic Games held in Singapore. The single stamp on the souvenir sheet features netball and football, whereas the sheet selvage carries the figures illustrating the sports like basketball, volleyball, boxing, badminton, gymnastics, athletics and hockey.

Bolivia 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The Bolivian post released a set of 2 stamps on 8 September 2010 to commemorate the 1st Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore (14-26 August). This is the first country I know outside Singapore that has issued more than 1 stamp for this event. The sports featured on the stamps are football, cycling, swimming and athletics.

Uzbekistan 2010 YOG



The Uzbekistan Post Office entered into its register on 12 July 2010 the stamp issue for the 1st Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore. The single stamp has a face value of 800 soms, and features a gymnast with a ball.

Tunisia 2010 Youth Olympic Games


Tunisia Post released the stamp commemorating the 1st Youth Olympic Games on the games opening day, 14 August 2010. The design is typical of Tunisian stamps with familiar colours and icons representing various sports offered during the games: athletics, wrestling, taekwando, weightlifting, tennis, rowing, sailing, diving and swimming.

Estonia 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Estonia released this postal stationery on the opening day of the 1st Youth Olympic Games, 14 August 2010. It is actually a prepaid postcard, priced at 13.50 kroons, which is slightly more than USD1.00. The back of the card is totally blank for writing purposes, whereas the front is illustrated with some important aspects of these games: the sports, represented by pistol shooting, handball, and a swimmer diving from a starting block, and scenes of participants of the Culture & Education Programme. My friend sent this card one day after the last day of the games, 27 August.

Singapore 2010 YOG MyStamp Sheet

This is the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games MyStamp sheetlet, the size is that of a A5 sheet, in horizontal mode. It was released on the games opening day, 14 August 2010; priced at SGD15.50 at post offices, it comes in a hard board folder. There are 2 large panes on the sheetlet, the top pane shows the 2010 YOG logo, and the lower one displays the games mascots, Lyo and Merly. This sheet is supposedly available with the panes available for personalisation, i.e. one can send in a couple of photos to be printed on these panes. This is a very innovative idea for the games, because I can think of games participants printing their moments of victory on these panes! I understand that this sheetlet was sold out within a week of release.

Moldova 2010 Youth Olympic Games

For the 1st Youth Olympic Games, Moldova issued a postal stationery on 21 August 2010, this comprises a 1.20L prepaid envelope. The top-right corner of the envelope is printed with a stamp motif featuring the sports of hurdling and canoeing. The left portion of the envelope is festooned with the official YOG 2010 icons for the sports offered in these games and the 2 official game mascots - Lyo & Merly.

Iceland 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The latest country to issue a YOG stamp is Iceland, on 16 September 2010. The stamp features the profile of a young athlete, from the stance, who is a high jumper. The bright silhouette is position doing a back flip over a few graphic blocks that look like books.

UAE 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The United Arab Emirates released this souvenir sheet on the games opening day, 26 August 2010. It is a very nice design, with the flames wavering in the nation's colours; the sports featured are equestry, skit-shooting (I think this event is not included in the Singapore edition), and taekwando. I am unable to identify the 4th sports.

Monaco issues Singapore YOG 2010 stamp

Monaco postal authority released on 22 June 2010, the single-stamp issue for the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. The stamp features the sports of sailing and track relay, with the Singapore business district skyline at a corner, it comes in a sheet of 10.

Estonia 2010 YOG Postal Stationery

To commemorate the 1st Youth Olympic Games located in Singapore, the Estonian post issued a postal stationery on the games opening day, 14 August 2010. The stationery is actually a pre-cancelled post card valid for international mail. The reverse of the card is totally blank, the pictorial part only features pistol shooting, handball, and swimming with a swimmer diving from a starting block; the remaining illustrations feature scenes from the Culture and Education Programme of these games.

Belgium will release, as part of a sports issue, the stamp commemorating the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games on 14 June 2010. The stamp is issued in a sheetlet of 5.

Italy issues Singapore 2010 YOG stamp

I've read that the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games is on the stamp issue program of many countries. This is the first one I know, from Italy. The issue date is 12 February 2010, the same date Italy issued a stamp to commemorate the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
