Singapore 2009 Asian Youth Games

This MyStamp sheet was released 29 June 2009, to mark the opening of the 1st Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Singapore. The release was rather restrained, in that the Singapore Post did not make any big announcement for it, because it was commissioned by the organisers of the AYG; actually it was lumped together with other AYG souvenirs, liked the AYG mascot stuffed toy and AYG mugs, in a sales brochure. What is interesting is that it contains the latest MyStamp 1st local stamps with vignettes featuring the mascot lion playing various sports: table tennis, springboard diving, yachting/sailing, basketball, 10-pin bowling, shooting, volleyball, athletics, soccer and swimming.

Singapore 2010 YOG Mascots

This MyStamp sheetlet was released to mark the introduction of the mascots for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (SYOG) - Lyo & Merly, on 21st November 2009. The sheet contains the original 4 stamps issued on 14 August 2009 to mark the 1-year countdown to the opening of the games, and labels with the SYOG logo, and the mascots. The orange creature is Lyo, a young lion, and the blue one is called Merly, supposed to be a youth version of the Merlion .... hmm ... looks that the juvenile Merlion has legs! The remaining question now is whether merlions lay eggs or have life birth ...
