APEC 2009 Meetings


This set of stamps were issued on the first day of the APEC 2009 meetings, 9 November. The 2 pair of stamps come with a gutter label featuring logos of the event, the stamps themselves feature various economic entities of Singapore.
The 1st local stamp features the view of the business district looking from the east, the green beize in the foreground is the Padang, a field fronting the City Hall and the law courts, at the western end of the Padang is the abode of the Singapore Cricket Club, the second oldest sports club in the city, established in 1852; to the south of the Padang (far left of the stamp) is the Esplanade Bridge.
The 80-cent stamp features a touristic night scene of the Singapore River, with a bridge linking the eating outlets on both banks of the river.
The $1.10 stamp shows an SIA (Singapore International Airline) plane loading up cargo.
The $2.00 stamp shows the container port of Singapore against the backdrop of the Singapore business district.
